Your voice in Pakuranga

Katrina is your current Local Board Member, representing you and your family in Pakuranga. She is a long-serving resident and lives a healthy and active lifestyle in Pakuranga where she is a member of various local clubs and charity groups. She is the proud mother of two teenage boys, Nathan and Samuel.

Katrina is dedicated to making our community a vibrant, safe, and healthy place to live. She holds multiple postgraduate qualifications from Auckland, Otago, and Massey Universities, including master’s degrees in public policy and educational leadership and management. She is also nearing completion of a third master’s degree in specialist teaching. A four-time Teach NZ award recipient; Katrina spent 10 years as Head of Department at Elim College and has also previously served as a Deputy Principal. Alongside her work for the Local Board, she supports students with high and complex needs as a Specialist Teacher.

Katrina is fiscally conservative and believes that financial accountability is crucial to ensuring strong leadership for Auckland Council and the reduction of public debt. As your Local Board representative, Katrina has advocated for the continuation of AMETl’s crucial transport infrastructure projects, such as the Reeves Rd Flyover; and will continue to work towards delivering reliable transport and infrastructure solutions for our Local Board area.

“Serving our community as your Local Board Member this past term has been an absolute privilege. I have had many highlights during my time on the Local Board including leading the Community Development portfolio, the Fruit Trees in Schools and environmental initiatives, and being part of the team who have worked alongside central government to deliver new transport solutions for Pakuranga. Those who know me best would describe me as passionate, determined and hardworking. I am committed to ensuring change where needed and facilitating growth in our local community.

I have enjoyed working alongside our community in a range of governance roles, listening and advocating on your behalf, and championing our communities’ interests as a previous District Health Board member and candidate of The National Party. Our Local Board needs to work together effectively with all stakeholders. This includes residents, Auckland Transport and both Local and Central government to ensure that our collective voice is heard. We have had some great wins this past term, but there is still work to do. I would appreciate your support in re- election to ensure that, together, we can continue to achieve positive results for our community.”

Representing our community’s health and disability needs

As a child-cancer survivor and amputee, Katrina’s personal health experiences have instilled in her a continued passion to ensure that our local health and disability services are appropriately facilitated. Katrina is the Deputy Chairperson of our Manukau East Council of Social Services (MECOSS) and President of the Amputee Society. She is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors as well as a past member and volunteer of child cancer organisations Canteen, Camp Quality, and Parafed Disability Sports.

Katrina actively volunteers for a range of health and disability charities and believes that building strong partnerships with people is the key to effective community representation.
